Didn't gain the advantage from Vegeta's blast? Than why have the blast in the first place? Why have Cell be distracted in the first place? Gohan at half power didn't hold back Cell. It was very clear that, the only way for Gohan to win was to reach his full power, one where he arguably may have needed a rage boost on top of that but also needed Cell to be distracted.

One may argue that, Cell was so close to just annihilating Gohan that he needed that distraction to finally get the guy off Gohan's a***. But that distraction was needed...otherwise why add it. Whatever level Gohan was putting out at the time, was not only stated to be weaker but was so weak that the difference between Gohan and Cell was the difference between the former sweating profusely and veins popping out of his head and the latter laughing his face off and nonchalantly kicking Gohan's small pasty posterior.

Its made pretty clear that regardless of who you ultimately have the advantage in power over, Cell was more than just some moderate threat to Gohan. He was the real s*** and the physical and mental beatdown he gave the kid is a testament to that.

I don't even have Vegeta near Kid Gohan, but let's say I did. I still wouldn't have him winning, Cell's superiority in all things that matter most in life is going to ultimately trump the prince.
